The association

"Acircándonos" arises as an initiative of several students of the late Municipal School of Circus of Alcorcón (EMCA) who, joining efforts, enthusiasm and much work, begin to develop social circus projects with the firm purpose of bringing the circus and the clown to those people who, for different reasons, are in disadvantaged social situations.

It's been more than ten years now...

Since then, aware of the pedagogical and therapeutic power of laughter, they have developed different social circus projects both inside and outside Spain: Morocco, India, Guinea Bissau, Peru, Sahara, Equator and Ethiopia are some of the countries to which they have been able to bring magic, illusion and many, many laughs...

"Acircandonos" is an apolitical, self-managed and altruistic association that firmly believes in the cooperation of people over social differences. For this reason, the work of our artists is voluntary and, therefore, they do not receive any economic remuneration for any of their activities, in the same way that no person on the board of directors or administrative staff does.

In this way, "Acircárdonos" develops two areas of intervention:

- "Acircándonos Far Away" takes our clowns to countries where a natural catastrophe, a war or a population suffering from extreme poverty has occurred.

- "Acircándonos Near" tries to offer the same type of interventions within the geographical limits of our country by collaborating with other associations, giving circus workshops to people with disabilities, participating in the delivery of toys in slums and a long etcetera .

The "active ones"

NACHO CAMARERO

President of the association, clown, actor and educator. He has been trained at the EMCA (Escuela Municipal de Circo de Alcorcón) in different disciplines such as clown, juggling, acrobatics, pantomime and balancing, as well as at the Escuela Cuarta Pared in dramatic art.

He has studied clown with masters such as Gonzalo Arias, Gabriel Chamé, Hernán Gené, Phillippe Gaulier and Vladimir Olshansky. He also has a degree in ADE from the University of Oviedo. Since 2010, when he began his involvement in social circus activities, he has not ceased to use the circus as a healing, training, liberating and entertainment tool for the most vulnerable groups on the planet. Member and expeditionary of several associations of this nature, he has carried out social circus projects in Spain, Jordan, West Bank, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Sahara, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, India, Nepal, Lebanon and Nicaragua. Recently he has also begun to collaborate with an association of Hospital Clowns in his hometown, Oviedo.

ELIA PÉREZ

Secretary of the association and lover of contradictions, laughing and crying. She travels through the universe of the arts without stopping at any particular place. She never knows what to answer when asked where you live or what time it is... He doesn't usually wear a watch.

Graduated in Arts, she is trained in different arts until finally she resigned in circus in CARAMPA (Madrid), specializing in aerial technique and being part of different circus companies in Spain and France.

HUGO SÁNCHEZ

Treasurer and expert in the art of playing the ukulele without strings, thank goodness. Its dazzling head has an infinite number of uses and can stand up to all kinds of feet. Separating him from his pocket comb is unthinkable.

He graduated in philosophy and, for years, dedicated to education until he decided to change his profession and began training in clowning with masters such as Philippe Gaulier, Cristophe Tellier, Gabriel Chamé, Hernán Gené, Sergi Claramunt or José Piris (with whom he also trained in physical theatre and mime). He has been part of the renowned French circus company Cirque Bidon.

ZAIDA VILLAR

Member of the association, passionate about animals and our most agile clown. Even tied up, she is not capable of standing still and not giving herself to others. High level mentalist magician whose numbers are impossible missions.

Pedagogue and teacher of circus techniques for children, she is trained in circus schools such as EMCA, the Circodrome and, in the clown universe, with teachers such as Alberto Quirós, Gabriel Chamé or Hernán Gené.

MARÍA MUÑOZ

"MARIQUILLA"

Multidisciplinary circus artist, clown, dancer, musician, drummer and fortune teller.

She's our spirit from the south.

From a very young age, she felt a great passion for the performing arts, which led her to study at the Escuela de Arte Dramático de Málaga, the Escuela Municipal de Circo de Alrcorcón (EMCA), the professional circus school in Madrid (CARAMPA) and the Escuela de Artes Urbanas (CAU) in Granada.

She combines her multiple shows with different theatre and circus companies, with her pedagogical skills through circus and theatre classes for children and teenagers for more than 10 years.
